When all they care for is destroyed by war, they are forced to escape. As Nuri and Afra travel through a broken world, they must confront not only the pain of their own unspeakable loss, but dangers that would overwhelm the bravest of souls. Above all - and perhaps this is the hardest thing they face - they must journey to find each other again.
Why we like this book: The joy, for me, is hearing Flora laugh out loud when she reads it, over and over again. “It’s like a funny comic,” she says. “But it’s real life, not superheroes. It’s about stuff that actually could happen to somebody.”

In 2022, we are celebrating the 25th anniversary of World Book Day on 3 March– with the message for all children ‘ you are a reader‘!
